Co-Founders

Jonathan

Jonathan Lehe is one of the co-founders of Tujuane Children’s Center. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois and studied economics and international development at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. Jonathan moved to Nairobi, Kenya in 2008 to work for the Clinton Health Access Initiative, where he helped Ministries of Health across Africa expand their HIV and TB programs. He now works for Precision Development (PxD), a global non-profit organization that scales innovations to improve the lives of tens of millions of smallholder farmers across Africa and Asia.

Nancy

Nancy Wang is one of the co-founders of Tujuane Children’s Center. She grew up in Vancouver, Canada and studied economics and environmental management at the University of Toronto. Nancy first arrived in Nairobi, Kenya in 2006 to work for the UN Environmental Program. She went on to work in South Sudan and Kenya in public health and the technology sector, before returning to North America and receiving an MBA from Harvard Business School. More recently, Nancy worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, and now works for Google developing safe and effective AI tools for kids and families.

Festus Omoto is the pastor in charge of outreach and missions at Nairobi Chapel, and is the general manager of Tujuane Community Center in Nairobi, Kenya.

Collins Ouma is the pastor in charge of church planting at Nairobi Chapel, and is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tujuane Community Center in Nairobi, Kenya.

Dotty Akinyi cooks breakfast and lunch for 100+ kids every weekend.

Margaret Mueni teaches lessons and provides tutoring to grades 4-6.

US Board

Azeez Gupta is a Co-founder of Rocket Learning, a social entrepreneur, and an advocate for early childhood development, serving on several government taskforces. Azeez has been recognized as an Ashoka Fellow, BusinessWorld “40 Under 40 Disruptor”, Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst, and Gates Foundation Goalkeeper. His work in early education has been featured in Harvard Business School, UNESCO, and Forbes. Azeez began his career at McKinsey & Company, later joining Pratham’s senior leadership. He holds a B.Tech from IIT-Delhi and MBA from the Harvard Business School.

Brian Dempsey is the Founder and CEO of Power Financial Wellness, Inc., a platform dedicated to improving the financial health of Africa’s workforce. He has worked in 15 countries in East, West, and Southern Africa, impacting millions of people through the implementation of digital solutions and financial tools for those that have been traditionally excluded and underserved. He is passionate about financial health and using digital tools to leapfrog economic disparity. He previously worked at Letshego, an African inclusive finance organisation, and Micro Africa Limited, a company providing microfinance services to borrowers across Africa. He holds a BA from the Boston College Carroll School of Management in Business Management, Finance, and Theology.

Claudia Carbajal is a development practitioner who has spent her career improving how governments, nonprofits, and research organizations design and deliver evidence-based programs. She is currently an independent consultant advising on strategy, monitoring and evaluation, AI, and the scaling of agricultural and digital advisory initiatives. Previously, Claudia worked at Precision Development (PxD), where she led multi-country programs, managed large cross-functional teams, and oversaw impact evaluations in partnership with governments and major funders. She also worked at the University of Chicago’s Development Innovation Lab on agricultural innovations as part of the Innovation Commission for Climate Change, Food Security, and Agriculture. Earlier in her career, she held research and policy roles at the World Bank, Pratham’s ASER Centre, and Mexico’s Ministry of Social Development. She holds a BA in Economics from Tecnológico de Monterrey and an MA in International Development from Harvard University.
